OPERATING THE ACCOUNT

Minimum balance £25 Minimum monthly contribution £25
  Maximum balance £3,000 p.a.Maximum monthly contribution £250

Regular monthly payments of the same amount each month must be made into this account. These can be made by cash, cheque or standing order. If a payment is not made within any calendar month, then the account will receive a rate of interest equivalent to the rate payable on the easy access account for the entire period it is open(from the date of account opening).

Your first payment must be made by cheque. We will then send you a form for you to send to your bank so they can set up the subsequent payments by standing order.

The account can only be opened by UK resident individuals (not companies, charities, clubs, etc.) in single names only. Only one Gold Builder account (any issue) per customer is permitted.

Transfers are not permitted from existing Buckinghamshire Building Society accounts.

The account allows the facility to make 1 penalty free withdrawal per calendar year (1 Jan - 31 Dec). If 2 or more withdrawals are made, then the account will revert to the interest rate on our Easy Access account.

INTEREST RATES

Click here to view the interest rates.

For example £250 per month saved at 4.12% gross p.a. / AER would lead to gross interest of £66.77 at the end of a 12 month period, provided the interest rate does not change in that 12 month period.

The interest rate is variable and we can change it at any time. Interest is payable annually at 31st December.

OPENING AN ACCOUNT

In line with Banking Legislation, Identification is required for all new savers. We use an electronic identification verification system to verify your identity, therefore please do not send in identification documents unless we ask for them. This system verifies your identity by searching data at a credit reference agency and the databases they have access to, including the Electoral Register. This only checks your name and address and does not affect your creditworthiness and the agency will keep a record of the search whether or not your application proceeds. Electronic verification is undertaken for most customers but unfortunately it is not always possible to verify someone via this method as an insufficient quality of data may be available. In this case we would need you to provide paper identification documents. Under 18s cannot be electronically verified and should send in the appropriate documentary evidence. See the Important Information page for details. Please be aware that, for legal reasons, we are unable to open an account unless valid identification is provided.

You must send your first payment by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Buckinghamshire Building Society re: [name of account holder]. If you choose to make payments by standing order, you must set up your standing order payments to leave your account on or before 22nd of each month.
